Welcome to my Travel Blog!
Time to share a few of my best kept travel secrets
I’m delighted to welcome you to my long-overdue travel blog! I have loved to travel my whole life. I definetly inherited this love from my parents and grandparents, who lived abroad and traveled a lot for people of their generation. This blog is full of information on my travels, inspired by them. It is also worth mentioning that for every trip I’ve done, reading travel blogs has been an invaluable part of my preparation and I think it’s fair to say that they can be hugely helpful for getting inside information and tips on various unknown destinations. I love helping people by nature (hence the reason I became a primary school teacher). I hope that this travel blog will be helpful, insightful and inspiring for anyone planning a trip or considering their travel options! This blog will be ‘a work in progress’ as I’ve no plans to stop seeing new places any time soon! This is just the beginning, so stick around, ask me questions and check into the ‘Most asked about‘ for brand new content every Friday! I’m so happy to have your company here and excited to get your feedback on what I’ve shared so far. Thank you for visiting and happy travels!

Coming Soon on the blog
what you can expect
I have so much more to share with you from past adventures, current travels and future trips. Here’s a sneak peak of what’s in the pipeline! If you haven’t guessed already, I’m kind of obsessed with the sea so that’s probably something which will feature a lot!
Planning a trip already?
want some advice to make your life easier?
Travel has become more complicated these days and if you’re already planning a trip, you will most likely have a lot of things to consider that wouldn’t have come into the equation before. Lets face it, things have changed, and perhaps for the better, in many respects!
The simple fact is that if we want to move around, we will have to accept that it won’t be like it used to be! The current travel restrictions and health and safety measures are probably here to stay in one form or another, but it can be done!
I have learned a lot about travel planning over the years and although the pandemic has rendered some previous approaches to be useless; it has also taught me some great new lessons!
Sometimes in life, it’s best to trust your instincts and now is definitely one of those times! If you’re planning a trip, be prepared to change your plans at a moments notice and enjoy the adventure!
I am currently taking a career break from teaching and ended up being able to do nothing I had planned for the year off! But despite this, I have discovered so many new and inspiring people and places over the past year and I have managed to do a lot by almost doing nothing!
So I suppose my biggest advice is be flexible, like a rubber band and go with the flow, like the turtles from Finding Nemo. Be brave and be patient and you might just find some!
How I made my travel blog
and my advice for making yours
I’m not naturally tech-savvy and had a lot of research to do before I started this blog. (Let’s just say there was a lot of trial and error involved before it came to life). I have a list of steps involved in creating a webiste or blog for any newbies reading – get started on that blog you’ve been thinking about! What are you waiting for??
- Step 1: Pick a name
- Step 2: Sign up for a hosting platform. These are the people who make and hold a space for you on the World Wide Web. (I went for BlueHost)
- Step 3: Install WordPress
- Step 4: Install your theme (I advise having a good look through these and picking the one that appeals to you the most, so you don’t have to make too many changes in the layout)
- Step 4: Create your main pages
- Step 5: Write and publish some blog posts – (don’t get overwhelmed, start with one or two and add them as often as you feel like!) You’re ready to go!!!
Credit where it's due!
For those who helped to build and test the blog...
I would like to say a massive thank you to Ciarán, who was a huge help in making this happen. Also special thanks to our neighbour and friend, Eric, who provided A LOT of technical assistance when we got stuck. And last but not least, I would like to thank our friend Mark, who had the critical job of ‘Tester in Chief’! Know that your contributions and support were and are much appreciated! You guys are the best!
