Favourite 'Fake' Places

(5 Places you won't believe exist!)

Ciaran and I have a thing where we refer to certain places as ‘fake’ places. When you are in a ‘fake place’ you’ll know straight away! It will be just too good to be true! Sheer beauty and perfection, rolled into one! Somewhere that has to be seen to be believed and normally well off the beaten track! We feel so priveleged to have witnessed so many of these places and we look forward to finding more soon. For now, these are our top 5 (in no particular order)!

Cascada Gozalandia, Puerto Rico

A waterfall hidden in the jungle that you can drive to and easily climb to and jump off various levels into the plunge pool below. It is on private property but you just pay a small fee to the land owner to park your car on arrival. Lots of locals will go here on hotter days to cool off and have fun! An amazing natural feature that is thankfully shared for the benefit of everyone! Loved it here so much and even plucked up the courage to jump!

Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, Brazil

A seemingly endless white desert with natural pools of rainwater between dunes. Lençóis Maranhenses National Park is possibly the most surreal place I have ever been. Located in north-eastern Brazil, you can do a day trip here or camp for a few days and nights to get the full experience! The hollows fill up in the rainy season and are the perfect place to roll/run downhill into for a cool dip during a hot day!

Sarakiniko Beach, Milos Island, Greece

The closest experience you’ll ever have to walking on the moon on this planet! There is something special about Sarakiniko. A lunar landscape area with cliffs, a canyon and a beach. Spend the day sunbathing, exploring or cliff-jumping- an unforgettable place to enjoy however you like!

Antelope Canyon, Arizona, USA

Think a narrow, natural corridor on Mars. This narrow slot canyon consists of orange-toned walls of sandstone. Winding your way through it is an unforgettable experience. Rays of sunlight spill into the deep crevaces and chambers which have been repetedly sculpted by the flash floods which formed them in the first place. You will definitely leave this place stunned as to how it is even real?!!

Tianmen Mountain, Hunan Province, China

Tianmen Mountain is the most outrageous, mind- boggling place I have ever visited. It is a 1,519m high mountain above Zhangjiajie. The world’s longest cable car journey, covering a distance of 7,455 meters, elevates you to this national park, which is frequently above the clouds. A cliff path encircles the mountain top, which also has a ‘gateway to heaven’. You will certainly be inspired by this sacred place.
